jillian. :D Give a Boy a Gun Pages 1- 80 something.
So far, this book is about all the events leading up to best friends Brendan Lawlor and Gary Cearle taking kids hostage and killing them. Give a boy a gun is is many people's points of view on why they think Brendan and Gary killed people. It starts off in different peoples views about seventh grade, then eighth then 9th. Allison Finley and Ryan Clancy are two friends of Brendan's and Gary's and they have a lot to say in the book. They were always social outcasts and always talked about taking revenge, but Allison and Ryan never knew they were serious. In the book, they don't really give you a straight answer about what happened the night they killed the kids, or who they killed. But The person writing the book is Gary's step-sister so I think she tells us. Brendan seemed like he always wanted to get into trouble, While Gary seemed like he just wanted to kill. In ninth grade, (which is what grade i'm reading about now) Brendan gets a gun.
So far, I really like the book. I didn't think it was going to be in different points of view though. I read another book by the same author called Boot Camp so that's why I really wanted to read Give a Boy a Gun.
I am sorry to repot but I have not even picked up a book this week. I have been busy with other things currently, I will start reading again during Christmas break since it seems like I will be getting a pile of work during that time. So have a nice holiday break because I will not.
This book is a sequel to "The Cay" which I read about two years ago. This book starts off where this kid, Philip is being rescued from an island he has been surviving on for two years. He is blind, because of the big metal object that hit him from the torpedo that hit the ship he was on. He survived with this man, Timothy that had just recently died,. He practically saved Phillips life. He is also accompanied by his cat, who survived the trip as well. Once they got home, he tells to his parents and explains the whole story after an emotional period for his family. The next chapter switches to Timothy's life as a boy, and how he is looking for work although he is only a boy. Fortunately, he got a job, as a mate on a ship and gets his first pair of shoes. He is so excited because Hannah, his guardian, is paying for them although he feels guilty about them. Through the entire story, he speaks with what he calls "slave" dialect."
Overall, I really liked the first book and this one has an interesting twist because every chapter or two it switches from Timothy's life to Phillips like. Overall, I like how the story starts but I can not figure out where it is going to go.
There is a drug dealer who gets on a plain and is beat up, but does not know why he is beat up. When he gets off the plane he meets with his family then goes to a drug institution. There, he meets his roomate who is a nice friend. When he goes into the bathroom, he cannot look at himself in the mirror for some reason. He thinks it is because all the bad things he has done in his life time. He meets a girl who is a maaaaaaaaaajor slut. They got in the forest where the institution is and make out. When he gets back he notices that he has to do chores. He cleans the bathroom toilet and a dude named Roy yells at him. Roy is insane and on crack. Later in the book, he gets the feeling that he wants to die. He realizes he really doesnt want to die beacuse of the girl. The girl says if he ever dumped her, she would kill herself. This book is gay and im going to stop reading it. It is really annoying besides the slutty girl, thats kinda cool.
