Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus

Here is the story. My brain is to full, and i have so many things to do; i have lots of make up work. so, i tried to read Frankenstein. i read from page 1- 2, i couldn't stand it, so i tried a second time. i went from page 1-16. i then got board again. so i gave up. i downloaded the audio book. i am going to try it that way. if that doesn't work, then i am going to totally give up. to make this blog longer though, i am going to talk about literature in general. i think literature is a very mundane topic. i have no idea what that means, so if i insulted anyone, sorry. i am going to look it up now. i just learned that mundane means unimaginative. that actually makes sence. i don't think literature is unimaginative though. i just took a long break in writing this so i aam just going to post it. i might do this for real later on this weak. i am going to sleep. by.

Summer Ball
Mike Lupica

Danny Walker is a small 13 year old boy that people say he looks like a 10 year old. He loves basketball and for the summer he is going to a camp with his friends where all of the best basketball players go to the camp. Its Josh Cameron's camp where there were collage coaches that tough the young kids. Danny had a big disadvantage when it came to basketball because of his size and that effects him in the story. When he arrive at the basketball camp with his friends he sees a lot of big kids that intimate him. While the counselor was sending the kids to their rooms Danny was never called. Danny ended up having to go stay with the 12 and 11 year old. Danny meets a kid named Zack that is having a worse beginning day then Danny did. Danny and Zack become good friends. That night Danny and Zack played a one on one game. When they are done when the hear the bell Danny looks over and sees Rasheed looking at him with his friend. Rasheed was described as a mini A.I. Danny and Rasheed have been going at it ever since they faced each other on the travel team and Danny won. The next day when Danny gets assigned to his team he gets assigned to Coach Powers. Danny's father was a NBA player and in collage Coach Power asked his dad to play and his dad refused. Coach Powers and Danny were not good friends at all he starts to make Danny run laps. Next to that Rasheed is favored on his team and Coach Powers loves him. When Danny gets his call home he finds out the story of his dad and Coach Powers. His dad just says play so good he cant punish you. When they are scrimmaging one day Danny goes up for a shot and he thinks he had it perfectly but it was a air ball and when the kid that catches it catches it and makes fun of Danny and everyone laughed Danny right out of the gym. That night Danny decides to go to Coach Powers to ask if he can be traded but Coach Powers refuses and tells him that he should try soccer because there where many of little people that could run like he did in practice. That made Danny feel very bad.

So far this book is very good. I want to see what Danny will do now that almost everyone thinks he is bad. I wonder if he will come out and show them that he really is a good player. This book is the second of its series The First book is called Travel Team. Which is also a good book and worth 11 points.

The uninvited
i kinda can't really put how many pages because you're letting me blog on a movie ?

Okay, first off, I want to say these people live in a HUGE house on the water in the woods & have a boat house. So the movie starts off with the girl Anna at a party on the beach. She leaves the party and goes into the woods where she finds a dead person. She runs to her house and finds her mother, in the boathouse, who is dying alone. When Anna goes to run for help the boathouse explodes. Then it flashes to a scene where she's with her phyciatrist. That was a dream, but parts of it happened. She is in a mental hospital. That day she is able to come home, just to find out her father has a new girlfriend, Rachel Summers. When anna goes to see her sister Alex, Alex is quite upset that Anna ignored her letters. Alex then realizes her father didn't send them & confronts him, but he ignores her. Both girls are suspicious of Rachel. But when Anna is in the re-built boat house, she see's her mother pointing to Rachel. Alex comes in and helps her but they both realize they have to do some digging on Rachel. The next day Rachel & Anna go into town so Alex can go through Rachel's belongings. While in town, Anna's kinda boyfriend Matt tells her that what happened the night of the fire was not an accident and said he'll come to her house later. The next day, Matt turns up dead. On the day of Matt's funeral, Anna & Alex's father leave town. During the funeral Anna see's the girl from her dream who leads her to her grave sight. The name on the graves is "Wright". Anna and Alex realize that Rachel used to have the name of Mildred Kemp and she killed people. Rachel sedates Alex, and Anna runs to the police station. The police officer listens to the story and then calls Rachel. When they get home, Rachel is undressing Anna for bed after she sedated her. Anna see's Alex coming into save her. When Anna wakes up, there is blood everywhere leading out to the cooler on the outside of the house. She then see's Alex all bloody with a knife. Anna and Alex's father then returns home to find Anna screaming "We had to do it. Alex and I are sorry". Her father screams to her that Alex is dead. It turns out, Alex pushed her boyfriend Matt off the cliff. She set the fire & killed her mother and her sister. She killed Rachel, Who actually wasn't a murderer. Anna gets sent back to the Mental Hospital, and her next door neighboor was actually Mildred Kemp, the killer.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Page 1- 61

Currently the book am reading is called the adventures of Tom Sawyer. The protagonist in this story is named Tom Sawyer he lives with his aunt Polly and some other people I do not know. In the begging Tom gets into a scuffle with a boy over nothing then, some girl throws a rose at him and he mistakes that for a romantic gesture. Next Toms aunt Polly makes Tom white wash a fence( white wash means to paint something white) somehow Tom manipulates some dim witted southern kids to paint the fence for him and give him (valuable things)- like string, broken door knobs and a rock. Later on in the story Tom meets Huckleberry Finn and decides too give him a tick.

The Power And the Glory
Part 1 (three chapters)

In the story, Mr. Tench is an English Dentist living in Mexico. He meets a man waiting for a boat to Vera Cruz. He invites the stranger back to the house and they talk for a while. Soon after, a boy comes knocking on the door and tells the two people that his mother is dying. Feeling obligated, the stranger goes with the boy to help save the mom. Mr. Tench sees that the stranger has left his book on the table and he opens it. It is a bible with what looks like a illegal document. Mr. Tench wonders if the stranger was is a priest. Later, in a police station, there is a lieutenant that learns there might be a priest in this town. He gets angry because he thinks preists lead to lives of poverty and misery. You can assume in the book that the town is executing all preists except for one priest who agreed to be married and give up the religion. Meanwhile, a mom reads a story to her son about a boy who is murdered because of his faith. Later you find out that the mom reading the story to the boy was the same mom that the boy thought was dying. Clearly she is alive. The lieutenant says that he might hold a person hostage in every part of town until someone tells where the priest is.

this book is pretty good. I think part 2 will include the stranger and why he was so eager to cath the boat that he missed. I think he is obiously a preist that is trying to escape. He could just have done what the other preist did which was to get married and give up the religion.

The true meaning of cleavage
1-86
There are these two best friends named Sari and Jess. Jess is really pretty. She is like 14 and guys muych older or married always stare at her. Once a guy even proposed to her. It is going to be their first year of high school and they are nervous. They get their future told by a book. They just ask a questions, open the book up to a random part and point their finger to it. The first day of highschool is when Jess sees this soccer hottie, David Cole. He is dating the popular girl Thea Melendez. In school, they are known as the 'it' couple. Jess confesses that she is in love with David. There was this halloween dance coming up and the girls were just gonna skip it, but Jess saw Thea's name on the list so she said she wanted to go. The next week after the dance, Sari is in the bathroom satll and the b*****s of school come in (who hate Jess because she's gorgous) and they start saying that Jess made a total fool out of herself and it was obvious that she was in love with David. Then Sari and Jess made up. Then there was this party and Jess forced Sari to come along. They promised they wouldn't leave eachother at all. But as soon as Sari turned around, Jess was gone. Then Sari was just roaming around and went into this room. There was David, Jess, and some other poeple. (btw: Thea wasn't here because she was out of town visiting her family.) Sari told Jess that she was leaving and they would see each other later. The next day Jes called Sari and told her that David and her had sex.

In my opinion, this is a pretty boring book and I might not finish it. I like Sari because shes funny. And David Cole seems hot! Also, I wish that Thea was out of the picture so Jess could quit bitchin and just be with David already.

Dagny also says that she does not plan to lose the New Mexico line. Then Dagny wants to hire a person to a head job. When he comes to her office he says he quits. When she asks why he just says because he feels like quiting. He doesn't have a job offer and he doesn't know what he wants to do but, he does not want to work here. When she asks why he says he doesn't know.

So far this book is boring. I noticed the author likes to develop the characters very well so that you can relate to them. I have read more but, I did not feel like blogging it. I hope the book gets better.

Frankenstein

Pages 1-20

I am not going to lie. I only read twenty pages this week. I read the pages last night so I could blog this morning. (Notice how I skipped the part where I give lame excuses.) I honestly wish I could have read more. It is a good book so far. I read the first four letters in the book. The letters are about a man (Robert Walton) who is going to take a trip. At this point, it is not clear where he is going. He writes the letters to his sister whom he loves very much. In the first letter, he describes his feelings about his upcoming trip, and about how he is going to go to the dock tomorrow to see if he can find anyone to take him to his destination. Letter two, which is written several months later, describes the captain of the ship that is going to escort him. He also describes his experiences with the captain so far. The third letter, also written several months later describes the day that he set off for his destination. He says everything so far is fine. In the fourth and final letter, he describes the weird thing that has happened. One night, someone on the ship had spotted a person. The following morning, a different person was brought on board the ship. Robert had made the stranger his roommate. The letter ends with the stranger saying that he needs to tell Robert the stories of his life.

I think the whole book is going to be about the life of this stranger- Frankenstein.

I though this book was good so far. It had a lot of vocabulary words that I didn’t know, but I could figure out the general meaning based on context. It was good, because if the stranger was Frankenstein, it set up the narration of the story nicely. You don’t usually se books set up narration.

Okay so i havent posted on this novel yet so this is from the begining. The main character's name is Macy (which i think is a pretty cool name.) The book starts out with Macy helping her boyfriend Jason pack for Brain Camp where he'll be for the whole summer. She's taking his job at the library. There are these two girls there who talk down to her a lot because they think that they are better than her. Macy brings up a lot that her dad died and she thinks that it was her fault. Macy and her dad always used to go out running, and one morning when Macy didn't want to go, her dad got to the drive way and then had a heart attack. Macy lives with her mom, who designs houses and then sells them. Her mom has a party for all of the potential buyers, where the catering company, Wish Bone Catering, is quite interesting. The boss is a pregnant lady named Delia, and the people who work for her are Monica, Wes, and Bert ( this will totally be important soon ) So macy is bringing a box of brochures to the party, when Bert leaps out from a bush and yells "gotcha!" Macy's like WHAT?! but then Wes, who was who bert was supposed to be scaring, explain their "gotcha" game where they scare eachother. The Macy brings the brochures into the kitchen where she sees delia really frazzeled and needing help, so she offers Macy a job. Macy tells her she already has one at the library. But then when Macy gets an e-mail from jason breaking up with her, she has to take a drive to not think about it. Then at a traffic light she sees the truck with the words "Wish Bone" on it. Macy follows it and asks delia about a job, and she starts that night, where she meets another girl named Kristy. They become friends almost autimattically. Macy gets a call the next night from Delia who needs help. At Delia's she learns that Bert and Wes are Delia's nephews, and there mom died a few years ago. And thats really all the important stuff. Oh, and Macy has a crush on Wes, btw. [:

Okay so this book is really good. i like it because there is always something new to think about, and when you forget about the other stuff, it comes back to the plotline. i think thats really cool. and i also like how real the characters are. not one of them is apparently perfect, or doesnt struggle with anything.

Snakehead
Pgs. 248-end

After Alex got off of the boat, by getting on one of the crates and being lifted by a crane, he gets a ride on someone's pickup. He gets off at this cafe, where he calls Ash and then Major Yu shows up because he had Ash the whole time. He was waked by major yu and woke up in a house that was Major Yu's. He was taken to lunch with him, and he told hi how he loves England so much and explained his entire Royal Blue plan. Drop the bomb below the sea, and start a Tsunami! He also told Alex what he was going to do with him. He was going to take out his organs and sell them to people who need them. He was sent to that place, or a hospital off of an Australian island. He met a doctor, and was ready to take out his organs in the next few days. Eyes, liver, pancreas, all of them eventually. So, he did escape dispite the fences, no boats a huge guard dog, which attacks eveybody and anybody its sees. So, he uses sleeping pils to put the dog to sleep, and drops a filing cabinet on the guard. He gets away on one of the floats of the float plane, and as he leaves, he sets fire to the place. He goes through Bora Falls, and almost dies because of the rocks and the huge waterfall, and ends up on a beach. He realizes that the watch he had, which was supposed to tell MI6 where he was, did not have a battery. He uses the battery from his shoes, on the watch, and sure enough, they come. Fox, his partner back in Stormbreaker, is there to help him. He is flown to a military base, right on the beach where he was when he met Ash on the mine he was standing on. He had to explain Royal Blue, and they created a plan. He was going to land on Dragon 9, the oil base in Indonisa. This is where the bomb would land. He was gpimg to parashute in, and was going to find the control room and stop the bomb. He was going to go with his other partners, like X-Ray, Fox of course, and Scooter the leader. They barged in, and Fox killed the guy sittimg at the panal next to Major Yu. Major Yu shot a Fox. Then he was so supriesed to see Alex, he brought him in. Then after he introduced him to his best collegue, Ash, yes Ash, the crane over head broke off. Yu went out a trap door, and he hit the boat he planned to leave on which shattered him. After he took off, Alex detonaled the bomb, above gthe sea bed. It hit Yu, and was forced forward, and the boat went round and round. Alex was not killed becuase he was much higher up, which gave him the advantage, Then he was back home. Sabina Plesure, Alex's old friend who he had not seen in months, came over for dinner with Alex and Jack.

This book was great. As I have said before, I really like the adventure books, and this was one of the best. It includes everything to excite the reader, and keep you on the edge of your seat.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban:
Beginning to the end.

Harry starts off his third year at Hogwarts with lots of action. He gets very angry and accidently blows up his Aunt Marge, goes on the run and is then personally talked to by the Minister of Magic himself. He then learns that mass murderer, Sirius Black, wants to kill him, and Mr. Weasley makes him promise a strange thing, that no matter what he hears he won’t go looking for Seris Black. Harry is Confused, butHe agrees.
As he heads back to school knowing this stuff, he learns that dementors, evil, soul-sucking creatures, have been stationed around Hogwarts for protection against Black. They effect Harry much more than the others students because of his bad past, and he quickly learns how to defend himself when he begins collapsing every time they come near. He finds a Professor Lupin willing to help him,who is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, who begins teaching Harry the Patronus Charm, which is the only spell that will work against the bad creatures.
As the school year goes on and the third years are 'buried' under loads of homework, Ron and Hermione start to fight over their pets. Hermione is already stressed out due to her huge course load, and none of them can figure out how she’s getting to all her classes. It doesn’t help that Hermione’s cat, Crookshanks, repeatedly tries to eat Ron’s rat, Scabbers, and the two friends argue endlessly about the animals. They stop speaking entirely when it’s discovered that Crookshanks seems to have eaten Scabbers for good, and Ron is devastated.
Harry has a few close calls with Black when he breaks into the castle, but is not understanded. Things come to a head at the end of the year when a number of events fall like dominoes up Harry and his friends. Ron’s rat, Scabbers, turns out to still be alive and is really a wizard in hiding, Peter Pettigrew, long thought dead. Harry learns that it was Peter, and not Sirius Black, that betrayed his parents to Voldemort. Just when Harry is sure Peter is finally going to be punished for his crimes, he escapes into the night.
Sirius, long thought to be a mass murderer and Voldemort supporter, turns out to be innocent, and Harry learns that Sirius is his godfather. He’s overjoyed when, for a moment, he thinks he might be finally free of the Dursleys, but Sirius has to go on the run from the Ministry to avoid being apprehended.
Professor Lupin, Harry’s favorite teacher, ends up resigning his post when it’s discovered that he’s a werewolf. He narrowly avoids attacking the kids, and it’s Sirius that saves their lives when he turns into a huge shaggy dog to protect them.
It is a book with lots of action year to be sure, but Harry is very happy that Sirius makes it out safely and is finally free from Azkaban. He’s happy by the fact that he finally has a family-member, so to speak, out there watching over him.
This is a great book that everyone should read. If anyone thinks that Harry Potter has no action in it, your wrong. This book has tons of action

The Power And The Glory
Part II

In the second part, a girl lets the priest hide in her barn. As I said in my last post, there is a law that there is to be no priests and if they dont leave they are to be executed. The lieutenant asks to see the hiding spot of the priest. It is unclear how he knows the priest is there. Surprisingly, the lieutenant does not report the priest. Instead, he decides to simply tell the priest to leave. Later on, the girl teaches the priest Mores code incase of an emergency. The girl asks him why he keeps running away if he is tired and miserable. The priest says that he will not give up his faith because society tells him to give it up. Later, he leaves the barn and goes to an empty tent. He only wants to sleep but a bunch of people come in for confession. He cries in the confessions because he is so tired. The priest gets angry with the girl for calling him a fugitive when he belives he did nothing wrong. He believes that it is societies problem.
In the book, I dont see why the priest wont just leave the town. It is obvious that the town does not want any priests there. If he decides to keep being a moron and stay, he will be executed. Why the hell would you stay in a town when they want to execute you? This is a boring book but its worth 15 ar points so whatever

Currently I am still reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer I forgot which page I was on so I will just summarize what I have been reading in the past week. Tom sawyer and Huckleberry Finn decided to go to the grave yard and do something, but unexpectedly Injun Joe and some other guy were there. Then for some reason Injun Joe killed the guy he was accompanied buy. Then some of the other people in the town suddenly come to the graveyard and see the dead body. Injun Joe denies everything and people believe him, except for Huck and Tom who are now running scared because they think Injun Joe saw them. Also since I am having A.R. Trouble I will start reading short books to boost my average and to also get points. I have already started reading some books written by Edgar Allen Poe.

The power and the glory
part III

to start off the chapter, Mr. Tench writes to his wife. He hasn't seen his wife in a while. He is interupted by the door bell. The story changes scenes to a graveyard where people are carrying a little girl and are going to burry her. They ask the priest Padre Jose if he can say a prayer for her. He does not want to do it because he is already being watched. They beg him to do it, but still he rejects the offer. The priest finds his old girlfriend who he had an affair with. She obviously is not happy to see him. Her name is Maria. He finds out he got Maria pregnant and he meets his daughter. She tells him that she is made fun of in school because her dad is a priest who is never there for her. She says its too late and that her life is already full of violence. He feels like he needs to protect her for some reason. Like in part II, the mom reads the story about the priest that lost his faith because of society. The boy refuses to believe it this time, and his mom becomes angry. When the boy's father comes home, we learn that he is not religious and is not angry at the boy for not believing the story. The priest is giving a ceremony and figures out the authorities are surrounding the town. Even though he knows this, he continues with the ceremony. The priest continues his trip with the Mestizo. At night time, the priest has a fever and sends the Mestizo by himself. The meszito is mad because he will not get his reward money for turning the priest in.

Ellison Student said...

Sorry i forgot to put what I think about the book. I think its boring because the priest keeps running away and soon he will be caught. The Meszito is probably going to stay with the priest until he gets better so he can take him in to the authorities to get his reward money.

Lock and Key

In the beginning of the story, Ruby (the main character) is being shown around her sister, Cora’s, house. Jamie, Cora’s husband, leads her into her new room, and the whole time Ruby is thinking about how she got there, and how different it is compared to how she used to live. The day before, Ruby had been in “the yellow house” as she calls it. This house was small, cramped, and not very well kept. Ruby’s mother, Ruby, (they have the same name) disappeared suddenly after they had been living there for a while. Ruby (the mom) would hardly ever get out of her bed, and make Ruby (the daughter) do all the chores, get a job, talk to the landlords, and every other person that would come up to their door. I actually thought the story was pretty sad, how could a mother just up and leave her daughter and never come back, and not even say goodbye? Now, Ruby (the daughter) is living with her sister, Cora, who completely separated herself from Ruby and her mother. When they were younger, Cora took some hits (literally) for Ruby, and as they got older, Cora wanted her own life, so she moved out and went to college, calling less and less each day. Pretty soon she didn’t call at all. Now, Ruby is living with Cora and her husband, in this huge house, and is forced to leave her old school and start going to Perkins Day. The first night she is there, Ruby tries to run away, and gets stuck trying to jump over a fence. During that time, she meets Nate, her next door neighbor, and an obvious athlete because he was swimming in the middle of the night and Ruby can see that he is in good shape. She later finds out that he goes to school with her, and he offers to pick her up before school each day. Ruby keeps thinking of her old life, and wants to stay as far away from this new one as possible, so one day when she was supposed to be going shopping, she ends up going to her “friend” Marshal. When it comes to Marshal, it’s more of an on and off thing. They start out friends, become more, and say goodnight just like friends would. The next day the same thing would happen. Marshal is friends with Rogerson, the boy who abused Caitlin in “Dreamland.” Marshal and Rogerson are, in the simplest term, potheads. But Ruby really likes something about him, and the fact that she gets to keep at least some of her past with her. So, when she goes to his house, she ends up falling asleep, that’s it, and looses track of time. Then, Ruby finally gets to the mall, and ends up going over to a jewelry stand and asking for a job. That’s where I stopped reading.
I love this book, I love the author, too. I love all of her books. I love how Sarah Dessen makes it so easy to relate in one way or another to each character. I hope Ruby finds her mother, because I feel like there are some unanswered questions between them. I think Ruby and Cora need to figure out the past, and then, let it all go, and make room for the future. I think Ruby and Marshall are going to loose contact and spread apart, she needs to let go of her old life, especially because her old life is still controlling her new one. I hope Ruby gets past the whole “different social groups” thing with Nate and just like him for him. I’m sick of hearing her complain about how nice he is, and how annoying it can be. It’s not that easy finding a guy that is that nice to everyone and means it. I just hope Ruby figures things out on her own, and soon.

Some chapter- Okay this next blog might not make that much sense, but I dont care. So, Tom crosses the river and sneaks into the village to Aunt Polly's house. There, Aunt Polly, Sid, Mary, and Mrs. Harper, Joe's mother, are talking. He sneaks in the house and hides under the bed, where he hears them talking. Joe's mother and Aunt Polly agree that Joe and Tom were misbehaved, but good boys. Aunt Polly begins to cry. Tom, too, starts to cry, and is tempted to reveal himself, but he doesn't. He learns that the funeral is planned for that Sunday. After some prayers, Aunt Polly and the others go to bed. Once Aunt Polly falls asleep, Tom emerges from beneath the bed. He looks at Aunt Polly, pitying her, and places his note next to the bed. He is about to leave, but he gets an idea--one that will make everyone feel better--and takes the scroll, kisses Aunt Polly, and sneaks away. Tom doesn't return to Jackson's Island until the sun is up. As he approaches camp, he hears Joe and Huck talking about his disappearance. Joe is sure Tom hasn't deserted them. Tom's note to Joe said they could have his things if he wasn't back by breakfast, and he has returned just in time. Tom tells them an exaggerated story of his adventures. After it is done, he goes off alone to take a nap and Joe and Huck go to fish and explore the island some more.

But, one day at lunch, two girls named Jessica Johnson, and Madison Lawler, sit at the same table as Lucy and just randomly start talking to her. She soon finds out that they were talking to her because Connor Pearson, the school’s star basketball player, and the most popular guy in the school, apparently liked her. So, for the next few weeks, Jessica and Madison continued to talk to Lucy, and sit with her, and offer to hang out with her after school, and continued to pursue a seemingly harmless friendship. But, as Connor and Lucy get closer, so do Madison, Jessica and Lucy. Lucy was invited to party after party, and she soon got sick of Connor and his friends getting drunk every time. Soon, the big championship game was coming up, and Connor and his team had to constantly go to the gym and practice, so Lucy didn’t really think much of it. But, then she finds out that Connor still had time to go to party’s. Prom was coming up soon, so, this gave Madison and Jessica the excuse to drag Lucy out of the house and go shopping for dresses with them. I forgot to mention earlier that Lucy loves art, she loves to draw, and all throughout the beginning of the school year, she’d spend her lunches in the art room drawing. That’s where she met Sam Wolfe. He seemed to be one of those guys who would prefer to be a loner. But one day, when Madison, Lucy and Jessica were out shopping, they saw Sam in one of the stores with his girlfriend, and one of the most popular girls in school, Jane Brown. So, as the story goes on, and it get’s closer and closer to prom, Sam and Lucy talk every now and then, but nothing big. But on prom night, Connor (no surprise) wins homecoming king. But Lucy doesn’t win queen. Connors ex-girlfriend does. And the two of them end up dancing the night away. Connor doesn’t even seem to mind when Lucy tells him she’s leaving. So, when Lucy walks down the hall the door, she see’s Sam and Jane talking, well, not really talking, more like having a very loud discussion. Before she leaves, Sam stops Lucy, and tells her that he has liked her for a while, and that if she wanted to leave her “fairy-tale life” and “prince charming,” he would like to be considered as an alternative for the role of prince charming. So, Lucy ends up getting her happily ever after, but not with the guy she would have ever expected.
This was such a cute book. I loved how the book ended, it was expected, but then again, it wasn’t. It was like a fairy tale, but with a modern twist. Lucy had an average life until the wicked step mother comes into the picture. But, when she thinks she meets her prince, it ends up being the guy she wouldn’t have expected it to be. Melissa Kantor (the author) has a few other books out and I want to read them, this book was written so it’s such an easy read that I never wanted to put the book down.

Paranoid Park
Pages 1- 100

In this book, They dont give us the name of the main character, but I found out from IMBD his names Alex. So during the summer, Alex becomes really great friends with an awesome skater at his school that takes him to a place called Paranoid Park. When Brent & Alex decide to go to Paranoid but Brent bails, Alex decides to brave the park alone. Paranoid Park is a run down legend for skaters. When Alex meets up with Scratch, they decide to go train hopping. While on the train, a security guard starts beating up Alex & Scratch. Somehow the security guard gets stuck underneath the train and run-over. Scratch bails, so Alex is left to make the desicion to call the cops or not. He decides no. Now he's dealing with who to tell, skating, and two girls that like him.

I like the book so far. I mean nothing really dramatic has happened yet.

okay so im still reading truth about forever. by sarah dessen
renee.
pages 120-214.

Okay, so from where i left off, a whole lot hasnt really happened. so macy and this girl she works with kristy, are going out to this party with monica, who's kristy's sister and also works with them, and with bert, and wes is there too. so kristy gets macy all made up for the party. not a lot happens there, its just pretty much symbalizing macy's sort of coming out of her shell. also macy and wes get really close in the past hundred pages. then macy's sister comes back to town, and sort of frazzels everything up. she wants to finish up her dad's beach house and puts more stress on her mom. so macy learns from kristy to just ligthen up. life is short, and life is long, so its really all up to how you live it.

this book is actaully kind of inspiring. it makes you feel a little bit better about your self because these characters seem like real people. so it really shows you that every one makes mistakes, and that its okay. it really does blow over.

Frankenstein- pages 21-67

feb 19 09

The man in the boat is Victor Frankenstein. Victor tells his life’s story. It starts off with his life as a kid. One day, Victor’s parents go to a cottage where poor people live. There, they find an orphan girl, named Elizabeth, who can’t be supported by the family. With the consent of the foster parents, they take Elizabeth home. When she arrives at home, Victor falls in love with her. Chapter two shows victor’s friendship with Elizabeth. It also shows his friendship with Henry Clerval. When Victor becomes a teen, he gets interested in natural science. During a storm one night, Victor realized the power of nature when lightning incinerated a tree. At the age of 17, Victor’s mother died. He also gets sent off to college in Ingolstadt. There, he meets a professor that tells him everything Victor has studied is pointless. He then meets another professor that motivates Victor to continue to study not just natural science, but all science. In chapter four, Victor stops caring about his health, and just actively studies. He makes a major discovery. He learns how to spark life into a human. In chapter five, he creates the human. He then realizes that it is ugly, and runs into the next room. The next morning, Henry comes to meet Victor. Victor finds the “fiend” is nowhere to be found. Henry tells Victor that everyone is worried about him, and that they miss him. At the end of chapter five, Victor revives his health. The monster is still nowhere to be found. In chapter 6, Victor gets a letter from Elizabeth. It tells him to write back. He also takes hennery to meet his teachers. M. Waldman talks about Victor’s improvement in science. Henry realizes how uncomfortable Victor gets, and changes the topic. Then Victor talks about the seasons.
I liked this section of the book. I have a feeling that I do not understand the book fully. It seems a little too easy for the reading level it has on AR. Anyway, I liked the section because it did not tell a suspenseful story, but yet it still felt suspenseful. I think that is one of the things that makes this book a classic.

Or, I could be totally wrong.

Homeless Bird

1-101
This starts off with a girl named Koly. She is an Indian and is 13 years old. It is the age for her to get married. She doesn't want to but knows that her family is pretty poor and that she need to leave them. Her parents find her a guy , Hari, who is '16' years old. The grooms parent want a dowry, and they ask for a lot of money. The day before the weeding, Koly and her parents go to meet the boy for the first time but are not able to since he is sick. The grooms parents said they would meet him on the wedding day. The groom also has a sister named Chandra who is younger than both of them. On the wedding day, Koly and her family meet Hari and he looks much younger than 16 and looks sick. After the wedding, her mother-in-law told er that she was not allowed to see Hari since he was really sick and she made her do all the chores around the house. Koly still went to go see him and gave him flowers. They talked about her homeland and Hari found her interesting. HEr mother-in-law came home and scolded her for going into the room. Hari was becoming even more sick so they called the docter. The docter said there was still a chance he was going to die. That shocked Koly. She went and asked Chandra what was going on. She said that the only reason they got Hari married was so they could get the money from your dowrey and spend it to take Hari to a holy city with this magical lake. The docter said he shouldn't because it would increase his risk of dying but the mother didn't listen. Koly wanted to go along but her mother-on-law wouldn't. So her father-in-law chimed in and said that what they did to Koly was completly unfair and she should come along. Before leaving, CHandra gave Koly a garland to put on Hair if he would die during the trip. During the trip, Hari became more sick from the tight spaces. He passed away there. WHen they arrived home, Koly was no longer a wife, but a widow. Two years passed by and Koly was still there. Chandra's wedding planning was coming up and they found her a husband. During the night,Koly over heard her in laws fighting and they mentioned how Koly's widow pension payed for Chandra's dowrey. Upset, Koly woke CHandra up and asked her. Chandra was shocked that Koly didnt know and begged her not to take the money away or she would not be able to get married. Koly didnt take it away and soon Chandra was married and off in her new home. A year passed and there wasn't any happiness in the house. Her ather-in-law said that he would walk of into the meadows and never come back. So one day, after coming home from work, her father-in-law went straight into his room. Soon you heard her mother-in-law crying and she knew that her father-in-law was dead

I like this book. But i hate her mother-in-law. She never told Koly that she was receiving any widow pensions and didn't feel any remorse that she made her sick son she knew was going to die get married to Koly. I also like the turn that the story made. Now both of the characters are widows

Frankenstein- 60_- 241(end)

You probably know this, but I haven’t been writing in funny mode lately. To tell you the truth, I got bored with it. If I insulted anyone though, I am sorry. I left off in Frankenstein at the chapter after Victor creates the monster. From there, I read the whole entire book. Based on y mood in the next few minutes, I might give you detail in the whole book, or I might right it short sweet and to the point. I have decided. I am going to do it short sweet and to the point; not because I am lazy, but because no one reads really long blogs, and summaries are supposed to focus on the main points anyway, not the details. If you redeem that a long sentence, you should read the book. At the end of chapter 6, victor gets a letter that convinces him to come back home. In it, it says that his little brother had died. When Victor gets back home, he figures out two things. He realizes the monster had killed his brother, and that because of a photograph, everyone thinks that their close servant, Justine, killed the boy. In result, Justine is hanged. Two deaths are now the fault of Victor. Later on in the story, he goes to the mountains in Switzerland. There he meets his enemy. There, the fiend tells Victor his story.

After the creation, the monster goes around. There, he lives in a hovel near a cottage where people live. He gets attached to those people by his observations, and deems them his protectors. There he learns French. After he learns enough, he tries to befriend the blind father, but when the father’s kids come, they shun and reject the creature that has for so long been attached to them. This is when he starts hating man. He seeks out his creator. When he finds the creators brother, he kills him, and frames Justine by putting the picture frame on her dress. Then the creature runs off in to the mountain and meets Victor.

After the story is told, the monster asks Victor to build him a female companion. Victor says okay, and goes to England with Clerval. In England, he parts with Clerval, and goes to build another fiend. There, he realizes that he can’t bring another monster into this world. The fiend, who followed Victor, gets mad and says “I shall be with you on your wedding night.” On his wedding night, the monster kills Elizabeth. After this, Victor chases after the fiend, and gets trapped on an ice shelf. He is saved by a ship in which he told his story from. In the end, Robert Walton meets the fiend. The fiend tells him that he is going to burn himself to death because he has gotten his revenge, and no human will ever like him. The book ends with the monster fading away into the distance.

I think this was a good book. What I don’t understand however, is why Victor did not make the monster a good looking thing. I can’t insult the writer, however, because I could never write a book like that even if I tried.

This Lullaby
The whole book.

So this book is about a girl named Remy Starr who's mother is a famous author who is getting married for her 5th time. Remy's father was a famous musician whom she never met but he wrote a song for her called "this lullaby" on the day she was born. While at her new step-fathers office, coordinating plans for the wedding, a boy comes up and grabs her hand and writes his number down. At her mothers wedding to Don, the boy, who's name is Dexter, is in the band. He turns out to be Don's cousin who is in town for the summer with his band, also including Lucas, John Miller and Ted. Remy ends up going out with Dexter. Her friends Chloe, Lissa and Jess all know her for the breaking up after about six weeks rule. So when day while at a local club where Dexter is playing, he over hears Remy telling John Miller's crush, Scarlett, all about how Dexter was just a summer fling so they break up. They vouge to stay friends which they do, but Remy can't seem to get her mind off of Dexter, unlike any other boy she's ever dated. When she go's to take him back, he shows her his famous "picture collection" (him and lucas work across from Remy @ a picture place) it's a picture of Patty, don's secretary, on Remy's mothers bed, which Remy thinks is an attack at her. They get divorced just as Jennifer Anne and Remy's brother Chris get engaged. Remy and Dexter end up getting back together before she heads off for stanford.

I actually liked this book. I'm not one for sappy girly books but I liked it. Thank you Kristennn :)

Merlin's son, Krystallus, was a famous explorer. most of the people of avalon live in the root realms of the great tree. Krystallus wanted to go all the way to the branches. merlin gave him a magical torch that would burn as long as he is alive. merlin used this torch to relight the stars. now merlins heir, Tamwyn, has to go back up to the branches to relight the stars. this is where the book ends. i am reading the 3rd book now.

Lord Of The Flies
The whole book

Iam not going to give every single detail about the book because im kind of tired. There is a war going on and a plane goes down onto a deserted island. There are no parents, just a bunch of kids which I think is pretty awesome. The pilot is killed. The main characters in the book, Ralph and Piggy. Ralph finds a random conch shell and blows into it. All the boys come to him and they start making their own civilization. They name Ralph the head chief mostly because he is the oldest. Ralph, Jack and Simon go on a trip to explore the island. After a while, they confirm that they are on a deserted island. They also realize that they need food. They find a pig and bring it back. Right before slaughtering it, Jack hesitates and cannot kill it. Ralph suggests that they build a fire at the top of the mountain so that they can send a signal to any passing ships. Ralph sets up a shelter for all the kids. Throughout the book, you can see that Piggy is really the outcast. Ralph is pretty upset with the way all the kids treats piggy. During a battle, a dude parachutes down but dies probably on impact. A beast attacks Jack who is basiclly the leader of finding food. Jack stabs the beast and kills him. Towards the end of the book, Jack has two of the kids tied up as prisoners. Piggy dies and the kids decide to try and kill Ralph also. While the chase Ralph, Ralph goes to the beach part of the island and falls down. When he falls down, a British Naval officer finds him. The British officer is mad at the boys for behaving this way. He thinks they are just playing childish games. They leave for home and as they leave, Ralph cries for Piggy and for what the kids have become.

I feel bad for piggy cus he really didnt do anything. Ralph was a great leader, but Jack revolted against him. Jack was my least favorite character. I thinks its pretty awesome that they were on an island without parents. But like reality, kids can't handle themselves without adults.
